Banksy artwork to go on sale at London auction

Artwork by Banksy is expected to fetch up to £80,000 when it is sold at auction in London later this month.

It is the first time the image of a leopard escaping from a barcode has come up for auction after it was bought by a fan at the artist’s exhibition in the US.

Bristol-born Banksy only made five signed stencils of the leopard and signed all editions on the back.
Bonhams is auctioning the piece off in New Bond Street, London, as part of its Urban Art Sale on March 29. The sale is one of 17 Banksy pieces being sold.

Another highlight is his 2009 piece ‘Girl and Balloon’ which was created on the back cardboard backing of an Ikea frame. It is expected to sell for £25,000.

And 2002 artworks ‘Bomb Hugger’ and ‘Love is in the Air’ are estimated to sell for between £40,000 and £60,000 each.
A screen print of supermodel Kate Moss, created by Banksy in 2005, is estimated at £50,000.
