Alleged graffiti vandal arrested in Arcata

The Arcata Police Department arrested a 23-year old man Tuesday it believes is responsible for a rash of graffiti vandalism throughout the city.
Responding to a citizen's report of vandalism in the 1100 block of D Street, officers from the Humboldt State University Police Department and APD responded to the area and located a man matching the suspect's description, according to a press release. The man was detained and identified as Marc Douglas Cerda, 23, of Arcata.
APD reported that evidence suggests that Cerda was responsible for the bulk of vandalism that has occurred in the city in recent months.
Cerda was booked into the Humboldt County jail on suspicion of felony vandalism and possession of graffiti tools.
